The International Political Economy and Environmental Politics group led by Professor Thomas Bernauer is offering two fully funded positions for Doctoral Students in Environmental Politics.


Job description

The International Political Economy and Environmental Politics group is based both at the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS ) and the Institute of Science, Technology and Policy (ISTP ). Its research and teaching focuses primarily on the role of governments, civil society, industry, citizens, and consumers in providing solutions to environmental problems. The two new doctoral students will contribute to a project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, that focuses on identifying, characterizing, and explaining urban air quality monitoring activities throughout the Global South, and on studying public support for urban air pollution policies in lower income contexts more broadly.


Your profile

The successful candidates should hold a research-based Master degree in Political Science, Political Economy, Economics, Sociology, or environmental sciences, and be familiar with Political Science/ Political Economy theories.  They should have strong skills in quantitative empirical methods, and preferably have experience with survey and experimental methodologies. An excellent command of English is essential. The preferred starting date is Spring 2024. The funding is for up to four years.
