The Engineering Design and Computing Laboratory has a fully-funded doctoral position to work on cutting-edge research projects in computational design methods for sustainable and circular design.


Job description

With the global urgency to reduce the environmental footprint of all engineered products and systems, you will investigate the development of novel, computational methods to explore solution spaces and find new solutions. A variety of application areas will be investigated including consumer products, machine design and structures. The position also involves teaching assistance in the areas of engineering design, product development and CAD.


Your profile

You are:

  • Creative, curious and can work across disciplines.
  • Interested in computational methods and sustainable design.
  • Motivated to carry out internationally leading research.

You have

  • A hands-on approach.
  • A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related area of study.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following topics is sought: engineering design, computational design methods, computational optimization, applied artificial intelligence, and sustainable and circular design.
  • You are proficient in English in writing and speaking. Knowledge of German is an advantage but not a must.
