Doctoral position at the Chair of Construction Heritage and Preservation
The Chair of Construction Heritage and Preservation is looking for a doctoral student (m/w/d) as a member of the research project Cell of the Future. The Building Exhibition in Germany from October 2022 or upon arrangement.
Project background
The project, funded by the German Research Foundation/Money follows Researcher–Science Europe is based on the emerging field of exhibition studies in architecture history. It examines the development of real-world scale architecture exhibitions where temporary and permanent villages and settlements were constructed next to many other forms of exhibits. The multifaceted curatorial practice experimented with architecture, construction, landscape and design as well as with social strategies, which in turn had an impact on an urban scale. Within this research context, the doctoral research will focus on related exhibitions, their curatorial practice, communication, architecture and design.
Job description
Within the research project, you will take on a topic for the dissertation, which will be conceived together with the project leadership as well as the responsible professor. You will conduct research both on-site and in libraries and relevant archives. You will independently elaborate research results in the form of lectures, peer-reviewed journal articles and book publications. You will also participate in the organization of workshops and conferences. In addition to your research, you will support the teaching activities of the chair relevant to your dissertation topic.

Your profile
- You have completed your Master's degree or equivalent in architecture or art history.
- You can write German and English very well and speak fluently.
- You are interested in or have already worked on the topics of communication/mediation, architecture and building culture, curatorial practice, technologies and innovations in architecture.
- You have good academic writing and communication skills or are interested in gaining qualifications in these areas.
