NanoFlex Robotics is a startup, deep tech medical company that has spun out of ETH Zurich and is accelerated by Wyss Zurich to bring robotic technology for Neurovascular indications to market. NanoFlex Robotics' objective is to revolutionize endovascular procedures, techniques, and outcomes. And bring robotic interventional procedures to the standard of care.


Project background

Nanoflex Robotics is at the start of its journey. As one of the early employees, you have a critical role in helping define the company culture. We are a young, motivated and active team consisting of engineers, regulatory experts and business leaders. The position is limited to one year.


Job description

In conjunction with the development team members and the CTO, work to ensure the devices meet the performance requirements for navigation through a human vascular system for both bed-side and remote in-patient procedures. Ensure devices are compliant with all necessary regulations and standards for medical products. Interact with specialist physicians to ensure the user requirements are well understood and design iterations are planned and executed based on expert feedback. There will be interactions with technical experts, CMOs, CROs, and/or OEMs and the following tasks:

  • Interact with clinical and industry experts
  • Establish design inputs while ensuring requirements testability
  • Generate new concepts and improve on existing ones
  • Concept evaluation, prioritisation and selection through analysis, including but not limited to feasibility and risk evaluation
  • Grant compliance with applicable standards
  • Scout and select materials, components, and processes
  • Interact with suppliers and consultants
  • Develop test protocols, and test samples according to such protocols
  • Document each and every step of the process
  • Report findings and open points
  • Innovate within a crowded IP panorama

Your profile

We are a small but growing team and the candidate we will select needs to be able to work in teams as well as independently. They need to have a creative problem solving mindset and to work to deadlines. Be part of the team; help create the company and the company culture, build on your experience to help educate the team. Speak up when things are going wrong and speak up when things are going well. Be involved, engaged, respectful, proactive and take ownership. Other than that;

  • 3+ years’ experience working as a development engineer in the med-tech industry (familiarity with FDA and MDR) and preferably on class II or III devices
  • Experience in developing medical catheters, and an interest or experience in medical robotics
  • Experience in developing medical products to ISO 13485 (medical QMS systems), ISO 14971 (risk management) is a plus
  • CAD construction (3D&2D) and experiance of prototyping technique
  • English level Proficiency
