Coordination Doctoral Program in Plant Sciences at Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center

The Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center (PSC) is a competence center that links and supports the plant science research community of the ETH Zurich and the Universities of Zurich and Basel. The PSC promotes fundamental and applied research in the plant sciences. PSC is carrying out two doctoral programs.

Project background

The Doctoral Program in Plant Sciences offers training in frontier topics of plant sciences from molecular and plant biology to ecosystems. In the program, participants are trained in technical skills in plant sciences, transferable skills and digital skills as artificial intelligence and machine learning, statistics and modeling.

Job description

We search a 50-60% coordinator to further develop the curriculum of the Doctoral Program in Plant Sciences and to organize the training. You work closely with experienced teaching experts as part of an interdisciplinary team.

• Organisation and administration of courses for doctoral students
• Organisation of welcome events, retreats, PhD symposium and other activities
• Co-organisation of the summer school in machine learning in 2025
• Keeping relationship to other educational programs of University of Zurich, ETH Zurich and University of Basel
• Co-maintainance of PSC web content (Magnolia)
• Co-creation of marketing materials (Flyers, Posters, etc.)
• Contact point for students and lecturers in the program

Your profile

• You have a background in plant sciences or any of the involved disciplines and some knowledge in (generative) artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistiscs or modeling.
• You have finished your PhD
• You can meet the needs of lecturers and students through your communicative and networking personality
• You very much like to organise in a structured manner
• You have keen interest in further developing the education at the doctoral level
• You communicate and write fluently in German and English
• You are engaged, flexible and resilient
• You are a team player
