CYBATHLON  of ETH Zurich is a not-for-profit project that offers a platform to advance research in the field of assistive technology. Its goal is to promote dialogue with the public about the inclusion of people with disabilities in everyday life. “Main Driver” is a unique championship in which people with physical disabilities compete against each other to complete everyday tasks using state-of-the-art technical assistance systems. CYBATHLON is an international competition and invites teams from all over the world to be part of our platform.


Project background

The CYBATHLON  team is looking for a Competition Manager. You will complement our Competition Team in the development and management of the CYBATHLON disciplines and races.


Job description

In this role, you will take responsibility for projects relating to the development and organisation of the CYBATHLON  competitions. This includes the further development of the races, refereeing processes, appeals procedures, management of competition staff, preparation of the competition for events, and the elaboration of new competition formats. The Competition Manager acts as the Deputy of the Head of Competitions, is present at events onsite, and can take over the management and operation of the competition onsite, as required. You will work closely with our Competition Infrastructure, Production, Live Communications, and Event Operations Teams.


Your profile

You have a deep understanding of (sports) competitions and contests and a strong sense of fairness. Ideally, you have already gained experience in an environment of sporting events. In addition to your fascination for competitions, you ideally bring a background in human movement science, mechanical or electrical engineering, or similar. With your interdisciplinary thinking, your interest in social, scientific and technical topics and your good communication skills, it is easy for you to coordinate different interest groups. You enjoy working in large international and interdisciplinary teams and leading teams of staff and volunteers.
