The Faculty of Letters of the University of Lausanne invites applications for an assistantship in Modern English Literature in the English Department.

Job information

Start Date: 1 September 2023    

Duration of Contract: one year, renewable twice for two years. This makes a total duration of five years maximum. Activity Rate: 80%

Your responsibilities

  • 50% minimum: doctoral research towards the completion of a PhD thesis in early modern English theater.
  • 50% maximum: teaching and administration.

The appointee will be expected to:

  • Produce a PhD thesis on early modern English theater.
  • Teach first-year and/or second year courses (2h/semester) in English Literature.
  • Contribute to administrative tasks and participate in the life of the department and faculty.

Your qualifications

Candidates should have a BA in Humanities/Letters and an MA (or equivalent qualification) in English Literature, with a focus on early modern English theater. They should be fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The ability to work both independently and in collaborative environments in essential. An interest in teaching, and/or some teaching experience, will be considered a plus.

Fluency in French is not a requirement for this post, but the ability to communicate effectively in the language may nevertheless be considered a strength.
