Assistant Professorship with Tenure Track in Eastern European History

The University of Zurich invites applications for an assistant professorship with tenure track in Eastern European History.
The position should be filled by 1 August 2024. After two temporary three-year contracts, the position will become tenured on the condition that the candidate passes the evaluation process.
Candidates must be able to conduct outstanding research with an international impact in the field of modern Eastern European history and also bring teaching experience to the position. In addition to providing innovative research contributions in the field, they are expected to work together with their colleagues at the Department of History as part of new research groups, as well as with other colleagues in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and with national and international partners. Candidates must be able to teach broadly within the study programs of the Department of History and the BA and MA courses in Eastern European studies jointly offered with the Department of Slavonic Studies .
Candidates must hold a PhD degree at the time of application and have an excellent record of academic achievements in the relevant field. Teaching may be carried out in English. Non-German speaking candidates are expected to acquire a working knowledge of German within the first three years of their appointment.
