Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

CFG is part of the SciLifeLab platform Chemical Biology and Genome Engineering and is based at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics in Biomedicum, Solna. As a national SciLifeLab unit, our mission is to support the Swedish research community in the design, execution, and interpretation of large-scale, CRISPR-based functional genomic experiments as well as precision gene editing in cell lines.

Your mission

As part of the team, you will perform precision gene editing for facility clients. In addition, you will contribute to our high-throughput CRISPR functional genomics efforts. You will have frequent customer contact and will manage many projects simultaneously.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

Extensive prior experience in the design and execution of precision editing with CRISPR, as well as of CRISPR-Cas9-based pooled genetic screens is a requirement for your application to be considered. In addition, you are expected to have a solid background in mammalian cell culture, FACS analyses, lentiviral tools, molecular cloning techniques, as well as flow cytometry. Professional use of English in speaking and writing is essential.

Assessment criteria

In addition to the eligibility requirements above, practical expertise in cell sorting is highly relevant, as is experience in laboratory management including BSL2 environments. Because interaction with existing, and outreach to new, customers is important for our operations, experience in creating web pages and information material is also advantageous.

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
