Research Specialist in Chromosome Metabolic Disease Study

The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is an institution with a strong focus on basic research. The research groups are organized according to two thematic programs: Developmental and stem Cell Biology and Cell Biology. CMB conducts research and teaching in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer, and infection biology.


Description of the subject area

We are seeking dedicated and highly qualified person to support our research on rare diseases, focusing on the relationship between chromosome structure and transcription.


Your mission

The succseful applicant will work with us using experimental and bioinformatical methods to analyze genome and chromosome structure of two rare diseases; Cornelia de Lange Syndrome  (CdLS)  and CHOPs syndrome. Other included tasks are research development, management of personnel within the team, fundraising, and promotion of internationalization at the university level. When called upon, the candidate should also actively participate in other departmental activities.


Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, the applicant must have a PhD in a life science-related field. The candidate also needs to have documented expert skills in bioinformatics and experimental genome analysis, and must have previously conducted research in a company or at a university. The applicant should also have succeeded in obtaining educational- or research-related external funding.

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

An ability to communicate in Japanese is considered as an asset since part of the planned research will be conducted in collaboration with Japanese researchers. Earlier experience from international collaboration in the field of computational biology and next-generation sequencing is also considered as a merit.

Experience from organization committees of national and international conferences and seminar series is advantageous.
