Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

We are seeking a motivated research assistant to help us improve drug combination therapies for pediatric cancer, using advanced methods such as lineage tracing, spatial transcriptomics, single cell sequencing and organoids. You will be a part of the Kallioniemi research group . The group focuses on optimizing treatments for individual cancer patients based on molecular profiling and functional drug testing. Specifically, the research assistant will be in the pediatric oncology team lead by Dr. Kasper Karlsson .  The team focuses on improving survival for children with cancer by identifying efficient therapy combinations. We are located at Science for Life Laboratory with excellent possibilities for multidisciplinary collaborations.


Your mission

As a research assistant you will work together with other researchers in the lab to design and perform experiments and analyze data. The two main projects will be to develop spatial transcriptomic methods on organoids and to validate drug candidates from previous drug screenings.


Your profile

The successful candidate should be highly motivated and must hold an MSc in a relevant field, such as biomedical science, molecular and cell biology or biotechnology. The applicant must be fluent in English and be eager to work in a cross disciplinary and international team. The candidate should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enjoy working in a collaborative setting, be willing to learn new techniques and be self-driven.

Qualified candidates have the following profile:

  • Experience in tissue/cell culture techniques is required
  • Experience working with spatial transcriptomics will be prioritized
  • Experience working with organoid cultures is desirable
  • Experience working with cryosectioning is desirable
  • Experience of handling of small-molecule drugs is desirable
  • Previous programming experience in Python or R is desirable
  • Experience analyzing single cell and cell barcoding data is desirable
