The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 90 persons are employed at the Department and approximately 1000 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme. For more information, visit www.pcr.uu.se 

The Department is now looking for a full-time research assistant for a 6-months assignment working in the project Petroleum, prices and protests: The impact of climate change mitigation on social unrest , supervised by Associate Professor Nina von Uexkull and Professor Isak Svensson.  

Duties
The research assistant will mainly work on the following tasks:

  • literature review on causes and outcomes of fuel protests
  • data collection on fuel protest outcomes
  • data management and contributing to qualitative case studies
  • organizing workshops and project meetings
  • updating webpages.

Other tasks relevant to the project may be added.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social sciences or interdisciplinary studies
  • Very good English both in writing and speaking
  • Experience in independent use of quantitative methods using Stata or R and data management.

Additional qualifications

  • Master degree in peace and conflict
  • Master’s thesis or work experience related to the research project aims
  • Experience in working as a research assistant.

Weight will be put on personal suitability.

About the employment
The employment is a: temporary position, 6 months. Scope of employment: 100%.
Starting date: 9 January 2023, or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
