Updated: about 2 months ago

Do you want to contribute to leading research on human reproduction and regenerative medicine?

If you do, the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health is the place that you are looking for! Our department consists of six divisions with approximately forty research groups, conducting leading education and research with a global impact on women’s and children’s health. Research on human reproduction and regenerative medicine are core interests of our department, which vision aligns with Karolinska Institutet's mission of advancing medical knowledge through innovative basic research, in one of the world's leading hubs for medical research.

Your mission

In this project, you will focus on the investigation of human primordial germ cell (hPGC) specification and early development, which occurs during early human embryonic development. To model and decipher the mechanisms behind hPGC early development, you will utilize human pluripotent stem cells and organoid cultures conjugated with single-cell and spatial transcriptomics. Your research will contribute to shed light on early germline development and pave the way for developing efficient protocols for in vitro gametogenesis. You will work under the supervision of assistant professor João Pedro Alves-Lopes, who is leading this project and line of research in the lab.
