The position is based at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences, a multidisciplinary department with over 400 employees and affiliated researchers. You will be part of an interdisciplinary and dynamic research environment in the area of public health and epidemiology, and will work with a team of national and international collaborators. The research team with which you will work has a long history of successfully conducting projects in public health, epidemiology and cardiovascular medicine, as well as in mentoring and supporting the career development of skilled and motivated young researchers.

Duties
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow for training and research within the frame of our projects in the field of cardiovascular epidemiology. The projects involve primarily register-based studies (1) concerning psychosocial risk and prognostic factors and the social consequences of heart failure and (2) prenatal risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. Your main work tasks will involve data cleaning, merging and analyses, writing of scientific publications, oral presentations of study results, as well as other project-related tasks. We have good premises, but working in part remotely is also possible.

Requirements
PhD degree in the area of medical sciences, statistics, psychology or other relevant disciplines or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in these areas. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.

We are looking for a colleague with:

  • Advanced knowledge and skills in epidemiology and statistics;
  • Advanced knowledge of a statistical programming language, e.g. SAS, Stata, or R;
  • Experience with handling large databases;
  • High-quality publications in the area of medicine, statistics, psychology or other relevant discipline;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English;
  • Good analytical skills and who is structured, achievement-oriented, self-starter, energetic, can cooperate as well as work independently.

Additional qualifications
We regard as further merits if you have:

  • Experience of working with Swedish or other Nordic registers;
  • Experience with research in cardiovascular medicine, cardiovascular epidemiology or reproductive epidemiology;
  • A medical background;
  • Knowledge of Swedish or other Nordic languages.
