The Department of Mathematics conducts research and provides education at undergraduate and graduate levels in mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. The number of employees is 130, including 40 PhD students. The Department has three research programs: analysis and probability, algebra and geometry, applied mathematics and statistics. Duties
Conduct research in algebraic geometry and low dimensional topology, in particular, application of algebro-geometric methods in knot theory.

Teaching and administration can also be included, no more than 20 percent.

Requirements
PhD degree in mathematics or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in mathematics. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc. 

Documented ability to excellent research in algebraic geometry, derived categories, Fourier-Mukai transform, tilting theory etc.

Additional qualifications
Some experience in e.g. 3-dimensional topology, knot theory or quantum groups are also good supplementary qualifications. 

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position of two years according to central collective agreement.  Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 1 January 2023. Placement: Uppsala.
