Description of the workplace
The research group of Oskar Hansson at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, now seek an assistant researcher for neuroimaging multimodal biomarker analyses in Alzheimer’s disease.
Our research is focused on defining and understanding biological processes in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. We work both with cohorts of patients and cognitively unimpaired volunteers, who undergo extensive testing with neuroimaging, biomarker measurements and neuropsychological testing, and with proteomics. The assistant researcher will join a growing multidisciplinary team of neuroscientists and clinical researchers, who are dedicated to increasing the knowledge about neurodegenerative diseases. The long-term goal of our research is to contribute to the development of new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases where effective treatments are still lacking. You can read more about the research here .
We care about creating a positive, respectful, and stimulating environment. We value communication and collaboration and a workplace that promotes learning and development for all employees. We are also committed to building a safe and positive environment for all employees through mutual respect and tolerance.
We offer
Lund University is a governmental authority, which means you get special benefits, generous holidays and a favourable occupational pension. Read more on the university's website about being employed at Lund University, Work with us .
Work duties
The assistant researcher will focus on large-scale analyses integrating both neuroimaging (primarily positron emission tomography [PET]) and fluid (primarily cerebrospinal fluid and plasma, including proteomics) biomarkers across multiple cohorts in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. Priority will be given to applicants who have a multimodal expertise. The assistant researcher will be responsible for integrating biomarkers to improve our molecular understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and neurodegenerative diseases and advance diagnostic and prognostic algorithms. Ability to supervise/co-supervise students will be considered as an asset.
Qualifications
The following qualifications are required:
- Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, medicine, bioinformatics or a related discipline
- Postdoctoral experience, of minimum 24 months, in neuroscience, psychology, medicine, bioinformatics or a related discipline
- Ability to independently perform large-scale MRI data analyses
- Expertise in statistical modeling, scripting/programming and neuroimaging software.
The following is considered a merit:
- Specific interest and experience in neurodegenerative diseases or aging
Terms of employment
The employment is a permanent employment with scope 100%. Desired start date is 2024-05-15, or as agreed. Probationary employment may be applied.
How to apply
The position is sought via the university’s recruitment system. Applications must include a personal motivation letter, in which you describe how you meet the qualification requirements and why you are interested in the position. The application must also contain a CV, contact information of two references, a degree certificate (including a grade transcript) and other documents you wish to be considered (e.g. letters of recommendation and list of publications).
