Postdoctoral Researcher in systems neuroscience

Updated: over 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 09 Dec 2021

We study the neuronal circuits that underlie movements with particular focus on locomotor, postural and respiratory control and their neuronal controllers in the brainstem and spinal cord. The candidate will work on a collaborative, ANF/NSF-funded project dedicated to unveiling the biomechanical and neuronal substrates of adaptive locomotion.

The team “Neuronal Circuits and Motor Control” headed by Julien Bouvier at the at the Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience (NeuroPSI) is looking for a highly motivated candidate for a funded 2-year postdoctoral position (1-year contract renewable). The contract can start as early as January 2022.

The postdoctoral fellow will have to implement state-of-the art investigations including genetic and viral-based circuit tracings, optogenetic manipulations in freely-moving rodents, behavioral tracking and kinematic analysis and electrophysiological recordings on brainstem/spinal cord preparations. He/she will also be expected to take an important part in the scientific life of the team.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic team of neurophysiologists. He/she will have access to recently acquired electrophysiological and optogenetic equipment and state-of-the-art transgenic mice and viral tools and will evolve in a highly international, multidisciplinary stimulating environment. The NeuroPSI institute hosts 22 research groups studying brain function from genes to cognition and is situated 20 Km south of Paris, at the heart of the growing scientific park of Paris-Saclay University.

Interested candidates should provide a statement of interest, a CV, a list of publications, and the names and contact details of at least 2 references who will be asked for a recommendation, to [email protected] before November 30th 2021.
