Observations of mineral / organic interactions (M/F)

Updated: over 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 20 Aug 2021

- development of a preparation technique to preserve the mineral and organic parts
- development of a polishing technique to keep all the elements in place
- elemental measurement by NanoSIMS
- if possible synchrotron mapping

This project is part of the improvement of our understanding of the formation and degradation of carbonate rocks. These processes almost systematically involve living beings, with mechanisms taking place at the cellular level. The main task will be to develop a preparation method that allows us to study both the carbonate and the cell that forms it. Once this protocol is in place, NanoSIMS measurements will be carried out at the mineral-organic interface

This postdoctoral fellowship is part of a DIM project "Ancient and Heritage Materials".
