Research Support Technician

Our research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behaviour of matter at the nanoscale. ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for three consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022 and 2023-2026). ICN2 comprises 20 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Job Title: Research Support Technician

Department: Nanostructured Functional Materials

Description of Group/Project: Valorization of a novel therapeutic platform engineered to improve enzyme stability, targeting efficiency, and bioavailability, including tissues that are currently inaccessible with conventional ERT, and to avoid the immune response.

Main Tasks and responsibilities: The candidate will be involved in activities related to the synthesis and characterization and final validation of hybrid nanogels. The candidate will work as part of an international team and she/he is expected to actively participate and lead part of this project. The tasks to be performed will include:

- Synthesis of nanoparticles/nanocojugates, modification and functionalization.

- Chemical characterization by different means (FTIR, UV-Vis, electron microscopies, TGA, NMR, EPR and elemental analysis, among others).

- Morphological characteriztion electron microscopy, (SEM, TEM, etc...), DLS, etc.

Requirements:

• Education: A Bachelor and Master Degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Materials Science or similar. (Candidates must be in possession of their master degree at call deadline)
• Knowledge:

-Science and technology of nanotechnology for medicine

-Characterization techniques

-Experience in the chemical synthesis and modification.

-Experience in microscopic and spectroscopic characterization techniques (FTIR, UV-vis, EA, TGA, NMR, SEM, TEM, FIB, etc.).

-Excellent communication and writing skills      

-Fluent in English both spoken and written                                                                      

-Intrinsic motivation, strong commitment, responsibility, independence, teamwork skills.

-Ability in writing complete technical reports

Summary of conditions:

• Full time work (37,5h/week)
• Contract Length: 4 months
• Location: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
• Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
