Offer Description

We are looking for an excellent postdoctoral researcher interested in applying for a Juan de la Cierva 2026 fellowship, funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities (Spain), with IRBLleida as the host institution, within the Vascular and Renal Translational Research Group.

Proposed research topic: Extracellular vesicles and molecular biomarkers for precision nephrology

The project will explore the potential of extracellular vesicles and their molecular cargo as tools for molecular phenotyping, biomarker discovery and patient stratification in kidney disease.

The work will be strongly translational, combining molecular analysis of human biological samples from clinically characterized cohorts with the possibility of integrating extracellular-vesicle profiling, non-coding RNA analysis and other molecular readouts.

Skills/Qualifications

We seek a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the PhD in Biomedicine/Life Sciences, or related areas (Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology. etc.).

We would be particularly interested in researchers with experience in some of the following areas:

  • extracellular vesicle isolation, characterization and/or molecular profiling
  • liquid biopsy and molecular biomarker approaches
  • non-coding RNA analysis
  • analysis of human serum, plasma, urine or other clinical samples
  • RT-qPCR, RNA sequencing or other molecular/omics techniques
  • bioinformatics, biostatistics or integration of molecular and clinical data

Hands-on experience with extracellular vesicles will be considered a strong advantage, particularly experience with EV isolation, characterization or analysis of EV-associated molecular cargo. However, candidates with a strong background in related areas such as liquid biopsy, molecular biomarkers or non-coding RNA research are also encouraged to apply.

Previous experience in kidney disease or nephrology is welcome but not essential. A strong background in molecular or translational biomedical research, a solid publication record, and motivation to develop an independent postdoctoral research profile will be highly valued.

Specific Requirements

Candidates are expected to have obtained their doctoral degree between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2026, subject to confirmation in the official Juan de la Cierva 2026 call. Applicable extensions to the eligibility period will be considered according to the conditions established in the call.
