The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The role

The post-holder will contribute to all the experimental activities of the lab, including molecular genetics and laboratory rodents experiments. They will also manage supplies, be in charge of lab safety and assist with the organisation of lab activities. The candidate may propose and develop new areas of experimental research within the scope of the lab’s focus, and will interact on a regular basis with lab trainees to cultivate the cross-disciplinarity (experimental and computational) of the lab.

About the lab

The team will start on October 1, 2021 and be led by Dr. Amelie Baud. It will consist of computational and experimental scientists working in the field of statistical genetics and investigating the role of social partners and the microbiome in giving rise to phenotypic variation.

Whom would we like to hire?

Professional experience

Must Have

• You have at least five years of experience with molecular genetics/genomics
• You have at least three years of experience being a wet lab manager
• You have some experience working with laboratory rodents

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have

• You have experience being a lab manager in Spain

Education and training

• You hold a University degree in biological sciences

Languages

• You are fluent in English and Spanish

Technical skills

• You have good control of a wide variety of low and high-throughput genetics and genomics techniques
• You have experience in Lab rodent breeding schemes and colony maintenance

Competences

• You have good inter-personal skills to contribute to a positive lab environment and support lab members
• You have sense of initiative and ability to work independently when learning new experimental techniques and/or developing new protocols
• You have good organisational skills
• You have good communication skills to report on/present your work, and to contribute constructively to all lab discussions

The Offer – Working Conditions

Contract duration: 3 years with possibility of extension.
Working hours: Temporary contract until January 2022. Full time position from January 2022.
Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
Target start date: 1st October 2021.

Selection Process

Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise reflected on the candidates CVS. It will be merit-based.

Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by Dr Amelie Baud.
