Offer Description
At the University Hospital of Getafe and at the FIB of the University Hospital of Getafe.
The post to be filled is for Support Research Staff assigned to the Intensive Care Medicine Research Group within the framework of the grants for the implementation of R&D activity programmes between research groups of the Community of Madrid in Biomedicine 2022.
- Performance of basic laboratory techniques (Western-blot, PCR, immuno-precipitation, immuno-histochemistry), flow cytometry.
- Tissue thinning techniques for microscopy.
- Optical and fluorescence microscopy analysis of different organs.
- Performance of various animal models of liver damage and lung damage, including that induced by mechanical ventilation and by instillation of molecules of interest.
- Isolation and characterisation of extracellular vesicles (isolation of exosomes by centrifugation systems and analysis of exosomes by 1) dynamic light scattering (DLS), nanoSight, flow cytometry and electron microscopy.
- Studies of inter-organ communication by exosomes in in vitro models (cell co-cultures, tissue sections) and in vivo models (including genetically modified mice). Performing precision tissue sections for culture.
- Assistance in cellular and humoral immunological studies in patients and animals.
- Processing of patient samples, coordination between healthcare and laboratory staff, provision of samples for Biobank.
- Development of clinical database of patients, design of protocols, interpretation of results and preparation of manuscripts.
- Learning and use of bioinformatics programmes for data analysis and biostatistical methods.
- Analysis, interpretation and communication of results in the line of research on pulmonary, hepatic and extracellular vesicles physiopathology.
- Development of protocols, and processing and recording of biological samples.
- Participation in national and international scientific congresses, training courses and programme meetings.
- Rotation of at least 3 months at the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria del Hospital Gregorio Marañón to learn cellular and animal models of organ dysfunction. Teaching activity through participation in the seminars of the hospital's Research Foundation. Ordering, recording of protocols and samples.
- Weekly tutoring to review the evolution of the project.
- Availability for rotations and laboratory work at EXOHEP member institutions as well as external collaborating laboratories.

Skills/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in one of the following options: Biomedicine, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Medicine, Pharmacy or similar areas.
Other skills: Word, Excel, Power Point, statistical analysis and graphics software (GraphPad, SDSS), image analysis software (Adobe Photoshop, ImageJ), flow cytometry analysis software (FlowJo, Flow Logic, Kaluza, others).
Specific Requirements

- Be in possession of accreditation for the performance of experiments on animals.
- Experience in immunology, hepatology or pneumology studies, particularly in animal experimental models in these areas.

- Previous experience in the analysis of cell populations.
- Experience in studies on extracellular vesicles.
- Experience in culturing cell lines and precision tissue sections.
- Previous experience in translational research projects on patients and clinical database.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Ability and experience in management of laboratory material and equipment.

Benefits
The gross salary will be the one established by the collective agreement of the Group of Companies of the Biomedical Research Foundations of the Health Institutions attached to the Madrid Health Service (SERMAS) for the category Area 2, Group 2, Senior Graduate.
The contract will last until the financing received for this purpose is consummated (estimated at 31 December 2026).

Selection process
Applications that meet the requirements and are within the deadline of the call will be examined by an Evaluation Commission composed of:
- A representative of the HUG (Head of the Medical Directorate) or person delegated by him/her.
- A representative of the Scientific Commission of the HUG (President) or person delegated by him/her.
- A representative of the EMU (Vice Rectorate) or person delegated by him/her.
- The head of the Research Group or person delegated by him/her.
A curriculum vitae will be assessed (60%) and a personal interview will be carried out (40%).
