The Role

The candidate will join a dynamic team in Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (ALCNS) with the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.  

The Student Affairs Division at NUS Nursing takes care of student life and development; and student care and support, including Houses and mentoring. In addition, the department has also established a House system (10 Houses) allows nursing students from Year 1 to 4 to come together to build a supportive, nurturing, and mentoring community.  The incumbent will provide administrative support to the Student Support Manager (Houses) and House Manager and the House Committees. He/She is also expected to manage students’ Community Involvement Projects (CIP); promote wellbeing initiatives for students and act as primary point of contact for all student support issues.


Job Description

Student Support 

  • Effective and customer-focused support service to students
  • Ensure students’ needs on personal, pastoral and academic issues are conveyed to the Director of Student Affairs in a timely manner and follow-up action(s) taken
  • Serve as first-line support and assessment of at-risk students and refers medium to high-risk cases to Counselling and Psychological Services (CPS) at the University Health Centre (UHC).
  • Ensure reporting of student behavior issues are prepared accurately and confidentially in line with PDPA requirements
  • Distribute Fitness to Study reports are distributed to the respective Course Lead
  • Assist Director of Student Affairs to organize mental health programmes customized to students’ needs and context
  • Maintain a close partnership with NUS Office of the Students

NUS Nursing Houses

  • To provide administrative support to the ALCNS House System (10 Houses) 
  • Provide support to the Captain/Vice-Captains of the 10 Houses in activities such as Freshman Orientation Camp, inter-House Games and fund-raising activities
  • Ensure the Peer Mentoring Programme is facilitated and structured peer mentorship sessions are organized


To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as determined by the Reporting Manager and Head of Department.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree and at least one year of work experience
  • A team player with excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and promote activities to support students
  • Outgoing personality and ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office
