The NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Department of Paediatrics invites applications for a Post-Doctorate Research Fellow position in the Brain Health Lab. The Principal Investigator prioritizes teaching (e.g., meets with team members regularly), rigorous methodology, and active collaborations within and outside of the university. Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility for extension and/or faculty position in academic research. The applicant will be offered flexibility in terms of specific research direction and career development.

Purpose and Main Roles

  • To lead established cohort (e.g., Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes; GUSTO) and new intervention studies in the areas of neurodevelopment, cognitive neuroscience (specifically in EEG), maternal-child relational health, and/or executive functioning
  • Candidates will have ample opportunities to analyze collected data, gain novel research skills, as well as to supervise members of our dynamic team
  • To provide teaching to junior staff in the lab in research methods related to psychological and/or neuroscience research and in statistical techniques.
  • To work with Principal Investigator in developing culturally adapted assessments and in designing a parent-infant relational health intervention in the community
  • To be willing to provide expertise and assist other research staff in refining manuscripts, contributing to grant writing, and overseeing ethic board applications
  • Qualifications

    • EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
      • PhD in psychology, neuroscience, biostatistics or epidemiology, or other relevant subjects.
      • Experience in EEG signal analysis, strong programming skills and/or advanced biostatistics experiences will be prioritized.
      • Willing to obtain strong recommendation letters from prior research mentors or supervisors
      • A track record of scientific publications and/or achievements, preferably in developmental cognitive neuroscience, child development, and psychology
    • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
      • High adaptability, team player who is eager to help, good listener, willingness to receive constructive feedback, and strong organizational skills
      • Passionate and clear about your own research interests
      • Adept in running statistical analyses (e.g., MPlus, Stata, R, SAS) and/or in coding (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
    • LANGUAGE
      • Excellent spoken and written English;
      • (Optional) Speaks other commonly used languages in Singapore (i.e., Chinese, Malay or Tamil) - as you may be required to converse with participants who only speak their mother tongue.
