Job Description

The Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) is looking for suitable candidate(s) to fill in Research Engineer position(s).

  • The applicant will coordinate and/or attend site inspections related to Solar PV installation works and prepare a periodic report of findings for submission to Client.
  • The applicant will assist in the Testing and Commissioning activities for Solar PV installations.
  • The applicant will act as SERIS technical representative between Client and their appointed Solar PV Contractor. Attend and participate in meetings when required.
  • Define the client specification into either a departmental action or subcontractor order. Produce deliverables on-time to client’s requirements, clarifying these requirements where necessary.
  • Help manage and track the teams’ equipment and tools to ensure task carry out are to the required quality and standard. Liaise with suppliers when necessary.
  • The applicant will assist in Lender’s Technical Advisory and assist in Owner’s Engineering projects, both of which include client interfacing, documentary and contract reviews, compliance check, site inspections and supervision on behalf of clients, and report writing.
  • The applicant will have project management and leadership responsibilities.
  • The applicant will assist in other group activities where required by the direct supervisor and group head.

Requirements
  • At least a Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred, though proven working experiences in coordinating and/or managing Solar PV installation can offset this.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in coordinating and/or supervising Solar PV installation or at least 2 years’ experience in a project management role in the PV, consultancy, or construction industry.
  • Knowledge of PV systems O&M will be advantage. Internship in related field highly desired.
  • Experience in other forms of electrical engineering works will also be considered.
  • Comfortable to work in an outdoor and rooftop environment. Having “Work at Height” certification or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Demonstrates initiative on moderate problem solving within assigned tasks.
  • A dynamic team-player with a positive effect on the mood in an on-site group setting.
  • Resilient, optimistic and open to change. Shows moral courage, openness and honesty in all dealings
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel skills and able to analyses data or related a programming language.
