Join an interdisciplinary research team investigating the human activities that create exposure risks for zoonotic disease spillover from wild mammals in Singapore. Funded by a Biosurveillance Research Grant from the National Parks Board, this role will support Associate Professor Lyle Fearnley, a medical anthropologist, in advancing research at the intersection of social science, public health, wildlife, and environmental change.
The Research Associate, or Senior Research Assistant, should have academic training in anthropology, sociology, or a related discipline. The candidate must demonstrate experience and proven ability in designing and conducting qualitative interviews, as well as applying other qualitative social science research methods.
- Familiarity with designing and analysing quantitative surveys
- Experience contributing to journal articles in the social sciences or interdisciplinary fields
- Interest in wildlife, anthropogenic environmental change, or One Health issues
The Research Associate will be based at SUTD and will work closely with a highly interdisciplinary research team. The team includes microbiologists, wildlife specialists, data modellers, and social scientists from SUTD, NTU’s Asian School of the Environment, and the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering.
This is an opportunity to contribute to pioneering research in the One Health social sciences and to help advance understanding of the links between human activity, wildlife, and zoonotic disease risk in Singapore.
