We are looking for a Research Assistant to support the research for the project titled: Novel approaches for nano-microplastics (NMPs) characterization in water systems in Singapore – NMPWaterSG. The role will focus on detecting nano-microplastics and contribute to establishing standard methods for detecting nano-microplastics in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities:
Work synergistically with the RFs and assist the PI and Co-PIs in experimental designs, conducting experiments, and troubleshooting.
Understand and follow the experimental protocols.
Perform experiments on on-site sampling of nano-microplastics in different water sources.
Operate instruments such as tubular furnace, muffle furnace, laser direct infrared (LDIR), Raman, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and pyrolysis–gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (Py-GCMS).
Process and analyze the data from the instruments
Assist in summarizing the findings in this project and produce the progress reports, final report and scientific recommendations.
Job Requirements:
B.Eng./B.Sc. in analytical chemistry, environmental engineering, chemistry or a relevant field.
Good analytical chemistry experimental operation skills, especially analytical testing.
Extensive knowledge of chemistry and analytical techniques.
High motivation and strong responsibility for research and development.
Good interpersonal skills.
Good report writing and communication skills.
Excellent teamwork awareness.
Productive, hard-working and dedicated to the completion of any task assigned.
