The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant position with immediate effect in the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Appointments will be made on 1 year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension another year.
Purpose of the post
Nutrients play vital roles in health and disease. Our laboratory research focus is to understand the physiological roles of nutrient transporters. We develop and use mouse models to understand the physiological significance of these transporters. The current project focuses in understanding the impact of nutrients in the brain. Suitable candidates could have opportunities to enroll in a PhD programme.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The RA candidate will lead a research project in which he or she will work with the PI to study the physiological impacts of membrane transporters to cells/animals physiology. The RA candidate is expected to:
The applicant should hold at least a bachelor in life sciences from prestigious universities such as NTU, NUS. Preferred experience should include the follows but not limited to:
- Experience in biochemical techniques.
- Proficiency in molecular cloning, protein expression, immunoprecipitation, Western blots.
- Strong interests in biochemistry.
- Experience in working on platelets and blood cells.
- Experience with mouse work is a plus but not essential.
