Job Description

The duties and responsibilities of the incumbent, in the Department of Pharmacy, include but are not limited to the following -

  • Perform pre-class procurement of practical reagents and consumables.
  • Perform pre-class setup of apparatus, reagents and materials for pharmaceutical biology or chemistry, MSc (Pharmaceutical Science & Technology) practical classes.
  • Provide in-class operational support and facilitate the conduct of selected undergraduate/postgraduate practical classes and objective structured clinical examinations.
  • Review, collate and track the annual budget for selected undergraduate/postgraduate teaching modules.
  • Involved in the daily operations, maintenance and upkeep of the laboratories and teaching facilities.
  • Ensure safety of teaching facilities through regular checks and audits.
  • Prepare documents for safety audits and assist in the update of safety documents.
  • Serve as the point of contact for safety communication to students and departmental staff.
  • Assist in the implementation of Safety and Health Programmes.
  • Serve as fire safety warden or first aider for the department.
  • Perform any other related and ad-hoc duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum diploma in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry or related Science disciplines.
  • Experience in pre-class preparation and running of science laboratory classes will be an advantage. Those who do not have experience but who are highly motivated and committed are also encouraged to apply.
  • Good knowledge of laboratory practices.
  • Experience in chemical synthesis or analytical methods or molecular biology is highly desired.
  • Able to learn quickly on the job with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently and as a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, e.g. Microsoft Office Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills with good command of spoken and written English.
  • Independent, committed, self-motivated, hardworking, resourceful with good organization, time management, analytical skills and desire to learn new skills as well as take on new responsibilities.
