Job Description
The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.
CQT is hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre also has staff at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. With some 200 staff and students, it offers a friendly and international work environment.

To manage the CQT Mechanical Workshop for the experimental laboratories at our research centre.
- Manage the setup, programming and operation of a CNC milling machine and smaller tools like a lathe and a set of standard workshop equipment to manufacture a diverse range of mechanical parts out of metal or other materials according to specification by a wide range of research customers
- Generate CNC programs from CAD drawings and manual drawings from researchers and students in collaboration with other members of the technical support team
- Continuously explore new manufacturing methods, improve machining processes as well as ensuring all safety and housekeeping measures are monitored throughout the work.
- Work with the technical support team to ensure good housekeeping practices in the mechanical workshop, i.e. manage the logistics for materials and tool management
- Manage and guide junior laboratory technologists and prioritize competing job assignments from various Principal Investigators for the mechanical workshop
- Provide researchers and students guidance in simple mechanical designs, material choices and machine choices, and outsourcing choices
- Guide and train students and researchers in elementary mechanical activities with simple mechanical tools
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of related experience.
- Application knowledge with CAD and CAM systems required
- Willingness to adapt to existing CAD/CAM systems
- Good knowledge of CNC programming and operation
- Good analytical skills in dealing with machining variances
- Good communication and interpersonal skill
