Director / Deputy Director, Safety and Health

Reporting to the President as the independent auditor on safety and health matters, and Vice President (Planning), on corporate safety and health management. The Director/Deputy Director is to establish and maintain a safe and healthy corporate working environment in SIT that also minimizes the impact on the environment and is in full compliance of all applicable environment, safety & health regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain and continuously improve the non-laboratory safety management system to ensure that SIT is in full compliance of Environment, Safety & Health regulations
  • Be the Management Representative in dealing with the authorities on environmental, safety and health matters except pertaining to laboratories.
  • Ensure that SIT has the ability to respond to and mitigate incidents and accidents arising from safety failures.
  • Building a collaborative relationship with key Safety and Health stakeholders, particularly in Facilities Management and Laboratory Safety.
  • Keeping a diverse community well informed of safety and health matters and with able to respond appropriately to safety and health incidents.

Job Requirements

  • A good degree. Relevant certifications in environment, safety and health is an advantage.
  • Proven track record with at least 10 years of experience in managing environment, safety and health.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable about safety management systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Good understanding of operational challenges, limitations.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders from vast spectrum of work experience.
  • Good communication skill
  • Ability to prioritize resources to address critical safety aspects based on risk assessment.  
  • Nimble to react and adaptive to the dynamics of a new and fast growing organization.
