Job Description

NUS Centre for Future-ready Graduates (CFG) is the National University of Singapore’s career centre on a mission to help our students be career-ready. Beginning with the end in mind, CFG has developed a four-year career-readiness roadmap that charts the career resources available to NUS students and the activities they could undertake to discover their passions, refine their skills, and enhance their employability. 

 

In an academic year, CFG offers at least 15 unit-bearing courses in collaboration with industry partners. We are also continuously innovating and enhancing our services, as our students deserve the best tools, preparedness, and mindset to not just land a good career, but be well equipped with key transferable skill sets that can help them navigate a lifetime of careers across multiple industries.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

You can look forward to journeying with interdisciplinary undergraduate students from the College of Humanities and Sciences* (CHS) as they embark on the Career readiness Roadmap. 

 

Unique to CHS, the roadmap has been mapped to the Career Compass Series that comprises four courses to be completed over four years of studies to help students with their career preparation.  

 

*College of Humanities and Sciences is an interdisciplinary undergraduate experience for students of the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science.

 

•    Provide individual and group career coaching to undergraduates and recent graduates to help them manage and plan their careers, navigate the job market, share industry perspectives, build networks, and land opportunities
•    Organise workshops on essential career preparation skills (e.gs., resume/cover letter writing, interview and networking skills, communication skills at the workplace, personal branding) and career events along industry themes 
•    Actively partner the Industry Relations team to understand employers’ hiring requirements and priorities to identify and refer students for internships and full-time opportunities
•    Work together with the CFG team to support key events (such as Career Fair) and advocate CFG services and platforms
•    Partner faculty mentors and academics for specific initiatives such as career preparation workshops, industry talks targeted at students of specific majors to improve their career readiness and employability 
•    Proactively follow up with assigned students on their progress along the Career Compass Series
 


Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science and/or other technical and quantitative programmes
•    5-10 years of working experience in one or more of the following industries – Banking and Financial Services, ICT, Clean Tech, Renewable Energy, Manufacturing, Professional Services (e.gs., accounting, management consulting etc.)  
•    Good industry knowledge of the latest transformation, emerging opportunities and hiring trends
•    Ability to drive independent work goals while working collaboratively across teams
•    Ability to communicate effectively with all audiences, both verbally and in writing, in English
•    Comfortable with ambiguous situations and changes
