Posdoctorand 2, Expert Machine and Deep Learning pentru date EO, Proiect specific 1 AI4DTE

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoc to contribute to our interdisciplinary research efforts. The candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and programming advanced DNNs and AI algorithms. The focus of the research will be on extracting meaningful insights from satellite Earth observation (EO) data, developing novel DNN architectures for bi-temporal change detection, and devising innovative approaches for multimodal image registration

Project name: Digital Twin Earth Intelligence for Climate Changes (DTEClimate), CF 760008/30.12.2022, cod 7/16.11.2022. Specific project 1: AI for Digital Twin Earth (AI4DTE).

The main goal of DTEClimate project is to maximize the information extracted from EO data by extracting sensor information and generating actionable, uniform, accurate, complete physical parameters layers that is collected and interpolated globally and unceasing by a cohesive use of EO sensors at maximal joint valorization of Copernicus Sentinels, Earth Explorer, and ESA contributing missions. The methodology is focused on hybrid Physics Informed AI methods, time series, prediction, causality discovery, data analytics, advanced visualization to monitor and forecast natural and human activity in support of sustainable development, and resilience to climate change effects. The new methods will be implemented in a system developed in AI4DTE project

Skills/Qualifications

The applicant must have earned a PhD degree in communication engineering, computer engineering, knowledge engineering, engineering science, or a similar field. The candidate who has held a PhD degree for less than 1 year at the time of application is not eligible. The applicant is working in a research organization. Strong written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work with others in a team-oriented environment at UNSTPB are a must. Experience in programming, Deep Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence is a must. Laboratory experience and expertise in validation of these methods is strongly preferred. Research abilities and experience in the desired field as demonstrated through first authorship/corresponding authorship or co-authorship on peer-reviewed manuscripts published in ranked ISI journals.


Specific Requirements

The employee will conduct part-time research in an interdisciplinary environment focusing on designing, developing and programming Deep Neural Networks and overall Artificial Intelligence algorithms The research will also focus on developing methods and algorithms to extract spatial and temporal patterns from satellite (EO) data, and developing new DNN architectures for bi-temporal change detection based on computational graphs and an approach for multimodal image registration. Responsibilities consist of conducting computer modelling, corresponding laboratory research for validations, including experimental set-up, experimental design, sample collection, and sample analysis. Responsibilities also include writing of research manuscripts, technical notes as well as other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Selection process

Any person who meets the following general conditions can participate in the selection process:

B. Content of application files:

a) competition registration application;

b) copy of the identity document or any other document certifying the identity, according to the law, as the case may be;

c) documents certifying education, seniority, general and specific experience, in accordance with the requirements of the announcement (e.g. PhD diploma);

d) the criminal record or a declaration on his own responsibility that he has no criminal history that would make him incompatible with the position for which he is applying (the criminal record must be presented by the candidate designated as the winner within 10 working days from the publication of the result end of the recruitment and selection process);

e) medical certificate certifying the appropriate state of health, issued no more than 6 months prior to the selection process by the candidate's family doctor or by the authorized units;

f) CV, dated and signed on each page, certifying identity, according to the law as the case may be.

h) the candidate who has held a PhD degree for more than 5 years at the time of application is not eligible. The applicant is working in a research organization
