Offer Description

Fundação Minerva - Cultura - Ensino e Investigação Científica, the founding body of Universidade Lusíada, which integrates the Research Unit Centre for Legal, Economic, International and Environmental Studies (CEJEIA), with reference UIDB/04053/2020, is calling for applications for a Master's Research Grant in the scientific area of Criminology, financed by national funds through the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P.

Work plan and objectives to achieve

The Work Plan will be developed within the scope of the Research Project "Delinquent Behaviour from the Perspective of Complex Systems: Normativity, contexts and Personality" and comprises the following activities:

1.      Collaboration in the review of scientific literature;

2.      Participation in the construction and administration of questionnaires;

3.      Inserting data into a digital database and preparing it for the analysis.

The scientific supervision of the research grant is the responsibility of Ph.D. Professor Samuel Moreira, an integrated researcher from CEJEIA at Universidade Lusíada.

At the end of the scholarship period, the scholarship holder must submit a final report by the regulations, which the supervising researcher must assess.

 

Scholarship duration and renewable conditions when applicable

The scholarship will last for 6 months, which may be renewed to a maximum of 24 months, and will be carried out on an exclusivity regime.

 

Form to present the applications and necessary documentation for the evaluation and the contractualization

The application must be sent by email together with the following documents:

1.      Elements of the identity card/citizen card/passport;

2.      Curriculum Vitae;

3.      Qualification certificate or, in alternative, an honour declaration from the candidate in a specific form, stating that the candidate holds the appropriate qualifications and informing the respective classification. The presentation of the qualification certificate for the scholarship will be required for the research contract;

4.      Recognition registration of academic degrees assigned by foreign higher education institutions and conversion registration of the respective final evaluation to the Portuguese classification, or, in alternative, a correspondent honour declaration;

5.      Proof of the candidate's enrolment in the Master's Degree in Criminology, taught and functioning at the Universidade Lusíada (Porto) or a declaration of honour by the candidate in which undertakes to enrol in this Master's program, the conclusion of the contract being dependent on the functioning of the mentioned Master's Degree and the respective proof of enrolment;

6.      Other supporting documents considered relevant.

 

Please note that academic degrees obtained in foreign countries need to be registered for recognition by a Portuguese institution in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of August 16 and Ministerial Order no. 33/2019 of January 25.     Amount of the monthly maintenance allowance, other financial components, frequency, and method of payment of the grant:

    The monthly maintenance allowance corresponds to 990,98€ (nine hundred and ninety euros and ninety-eight cents), according to the FCT table of values:

    The maintenance allowance will be monthly paid by bank transfer to the scholarship holder for the duration of the scholarship.


    Eligibility criteria

    - Final degree classification;

    - Research experience;

    - Scientific publications and communications;

    - Experience in building and managing databases;

    - Knowledge of Microsoft Office;

    - Knowledge of English;

    - Motivation to participate in the project and carry out the work plan;

    - Oral expression ability.


    Selection process

    Selection method(s) and criteria (curricular assessment, interview, etc.) and their assessment

    The selection method to be used will take into account the following elements:

    1 - Final degree classification (30%);

    2 - Curriculum Vitae (30%);

    3 - Interview (40%).

    Candidates whose application is evaluated with a final score of less than 10 out of 20 points will not be eligible for the grant.

    The first two candidates who are the highest ranked in the curriculum evaluation will be interviewed.

    Form of publication/notification of results

    The results of the assessment of applications will be made available to applicants by email by 90 working days after the application submission deadline.

     

    Selection reserve list, if applicable

    If, after the ranking procedure, the candidate classified in first place is not available to fill the vacancy, the candidate classified in second place will be considered, and so on, if the Jury finds it appropriate, this reserve list will last up to 20 days after the date on which the Jury approved the minutes with the ordering of the candidates.

     

    Complaint and Appeal Deadlines and Procedures

    Suppose the result is unfavourable to granting the required scholarship. In that case, applicants have 10 working days after the announcement to pronounce, if they wish, in a prior hearing of interested parties under the terms set out in the Administrative Procedure Code. The final decision will be taken after the preliminary hearing and will be notified by email, and a claim may be lodged within 15 working days to the email address used for notification or an appeal to the highest body of the funding entity within 30 working days, both after the respective notification.

    All notifications to candidates will be sent to the email address used by the candidate to send the application.
