Description:

HappyMums (Understanding, predicting, and treating depression in pregnancy to improve mothers and offspring mental health outcomes) is a 4-year project implemented by 17 European and American (US) partners led by University of Milan under the Horizon Europe program. The main aim of the project is to explore biological determinants underlying the development of depressive symptoms in pregnancy, and to test the efficacy of interventions – here a mobile application designed to treat and monitor depression during the course of pregnancy. The main task of SWPS University will be to carry out exploratory research among pregnant women suffering from depression or being at its risk; in addition the recruited women will be asked to test the mobile app designed for the project. SWPS University will also contribute towards drafting recommendations and health policies in relation to the best treatment strategies that should be offered to pregnant women suffering from depression.

Responsibilities:

  • Review of the subject literature and participation in the conceptualization of research within Work Packages 2 and 3: collecting theoretical materials, analysis of the literature on the subject (concerning depression in various social groups, especially among expectant mothers), analysis of factors and causes influencing the occurrence of depression, etc.
  • Planning and implementation of screening tests among pregnant women (participation in research design, selection of research tools, cooperation with research agencies, etc.)
  • Analysis and interpretation of the collected quantitative data
  • Participation in the preparation of reports disseminating the results obtained under the project, including scientific publications, conference presentations and texts popularizing science
  • Participation in meetings of working groups and project consortium, where necessary, ​​in person and/or online
