The National Centre for Nuclear Research, Division of Nuclear Energy and Environmental Studies opens the competition for the position of Research-technical specialist in safety analyses of nuclear reactors

Location: Otwock - Świerk - in the outskirts of Warsaw with daily transport services provided. 

Job/tasks description: 

  • Active participation in the work of teams on thermal-hydraulic calculations with a view to extending this to coupled calculations for different nuclear reactors.  
  • Active development of skills in thermal- hydraulic calculations
  • Joining the work of computational teams creating the technical documentation of the High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor (HTGR).
  • Preparation of materials for scientific articles and conference presentations.
  • Analytical work in the field of NCBJ activity: creating documents and substantive materials (reports, presentations, notes) and organizational (reports, reports, etc.), translations.
  • Performing other activities ordered by the Laboratory head and other superiors at NCBJ.
  • Performing duties in accordance with the Institute's Working Regulations.
  • Compliance with state and official secrets, work discipline, health and safety regulations, fire regulations, rules of protection against ionizing radiation.
  • Posiadanie stopnia doktora nauk ścisłych lub technicznych.
  • Umiejętność wykonywania obliczeń cieplno-przepływowych za pomocą kodów ANSYS Fluent oraz/lub OpenFOAM
  • Znajomość zagadnień z dziedziny statystyki Bayesowskiej w analizach niepewnościowych
  • Znajomość technik siatkowania oraz modeli turbulencji (numeryczna mechanika płynów)
  • Umiejętność programowania w językach Python oraz BASH.
  • Min. 3 lata doświadczenia w profilu badań związanych z energetyką jądrową.
  • Wiedza w zakresie zjawisk przepływu płynów, wymiany ciepła oraz fizyki reaktora.
  • Wysoko rozwinięte zdolności komunikacyjne i umiejętność pracy w zespole.
  • Bardzo dobra znajomość języka angielskiego (min. B2).
  • Gotowość do prezentowania wyników na spotkaniach i seminariach.
  • Umiejętność prezentowania wyników w postaci raportów technicznych oraz publikacji naukowych.

Requirements:

  • Holding a PhD in science or technology
  • Ability to perform thermal-hydraulic calculations using the OpenFOAM and CATHARE-2 codes.
  • Knowledge of Bayesian statistics methods in uncertainty analysis
  • Knowledge of meshing techniques and turbulence modelling (computational fluid dynamics)
  • Ability to programme in the Python and BASH languages.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the research profile related to nuclear energy.
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer and nuclear reactor phenomena
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Very good command of the English language (minimum B2).
  • Willingness to present results in meetings and seminars.
  • Ability to present results in the form of technical reports and scientific publications.
