Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 10 Feb 2022

The Institute of Fluid Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Sciences (Instytut Maszyn Przepływowych im Roberta Szewalskiego Polskiej Akademii Nauk)

is the leading organization in the field of fluid mechanics, multiphase flows, thermodynamics and heat exchange, laser measurement techniques, machinery dynamics, tribology and diagnostics of energy production machinery. The thematic orientation of its research concerns aerodynamics, solid mechanics and energy conversion in flows including plasma and lasers.

In the Distributed Energy Group of the IMP PAN, one of the leading research activities is planning the energy transformation, decarbonization of the energy and heating sector, energy management technologies to optimize the production and storage of electricity and heat/cold in micro intelligent networks, as well as the implementation of clean transport. The research topic lies at the intersection of academic research and practical issues. The selected candidate will deal with CFD/CSD analyses relating to assessing the flow

characteristics of the medium in renewable energy devices, including hydrogen. He will conduct simulations of the improvement of flow efficiency in channels, the effectiveness of chemical reactions, and their impact on conversion in electricity or the degradation of individual components. In addition, he will assess how a given component or material behaves during the short and long-term operation of the device. The proposed research is theoretical and computational: it includes advanced physical and mathematical models implemented and validated in commercial research codes and existing energy facilities.
