University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of lecturer of  Chinese language at the Department of Chinese Studies, Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies, Faculty of Letters

The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements

The candidate should:

  • Be holders of an MA degree in Chinese Studies or a degree in a related humanities discipline from Poland or abroad; Chinese native speakers must be university graduates and have long-standing experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language at the HEI level. Legal regulations concerning the recognition of foreign educational qualifications are applicable to candidates from outside Poland. Diplomas obtained in countries with which Poland has no bilateral agreements on the recognition of foreign educational qualifications as equivalent to Polish educational qualifications must be validated.
  • Be proficient in the Chinese language, with their command of the language confirmed by a relevant degree.
  • Have experience in teaching Chinese language.
  • Have a sufficient command of the English language to teach courses in this language (if the successful candidate indeed teaches such courses).
  • Have a work record documenting their involvement in organisational work for a HEI, including the organisation of conferences, cultural events, and involvement with student research groups.
  • Be prepared to teach practical Chinese language classes and to undertake activities for disseminating knowledge about China, with this taken into account by the competition panel as an additional criterion related to the teaching needs of the Chinese Studies Department and the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies.
  • Essential duties in teaching

  • Teaching and educating students, therein content- and methodological supervision of final course papers, term papers and thesis projects.
  • Contribution to the expanding of the Institute’s teaching offer, therein development of new curricula and syllabi.
  • Initiating new teaching contacts with research institution in Poland and abroad.
  • Essential duties in organisational work

  • Involvement in the organisational duties related to employment at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies, University of Wrocław; permanent development of professional competencies.
  • Involvement in the organisation of scholarly and cultural events.
