Director of the Robert Zajonc Institute of Social Studies, University of Warsaw announces a COMPETITION for the position of post-doc (group of research employees) in the SONATA BIS research project: “Social identity in the digital age: dynamic self-presentation to fleeting publics and its impact on public debate” funded by the Polish National Science Center (PI: dr Agnieszka Rychwalska)

Candidates for the post-doc position must meet the conditions set out in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Polish Journal of Laws of 2022, item 574), the Statute of the University of Warsaw, conditions set out in the NCN SONATA BIS 11 call, as well as additional conditions specified in this announcement.

Task description:

  • Developing criteria and procedures for selecting text corpora
  • Collaboration in collection and analysis of quantitative data from the Reddit and Twitter platforms
  • Development and testing of NLP tools and measures on text data from social media
  • Syntactic and semantic analysis of textual data
  • Archiving of research materials and procedures, including curation of GitHub repositories
  • Participation and support in the organization of team meetings organized as part of the project
  • Preparation of conference presentations and scientific articles
  • Required documents:

    Applications along with all the required documents in PDF format should be sent to: [email protected] , by June 19, 2022, with the following e-mail title: “Post-doc competition”.

    Incomplete applications or applications submitted after this date will not be considered.

    The evaluation of candidates’ applications will be carried out by the Recruitment Committee at Robert Zajonc Institute for Social Studies, University of Warsaw. The competition is the first stage of the employment procedure as an academic teacher, and its positive outcome is the basis for further proceedings. At the same time, the Committee reserves the right to reject all candidates and to renew the application process if no candidate obtains a positive evaluation by the Committee. Selected candidates may be invited to an interview, the date of which will arranged via e-mail. The results will be published no later than June 30, 2022. The candidates will be informed about the results via e-mail.

    In the event of the resignation of a selected candidate, the Committee reserves the right to select the next candidate from the ranking list.

    Note: the successful candidate will be required to provide the originals of the required documents.
