Offer Description

The offered position of adjunct /assistant professor is related to conducting scientific research and teaching in the field of aquaculture, marine biotechnology and biological oceanography. A person employed as an assistant professor will be responsible for planning and conducting research on environmental factors affecting the lifespan and aging processes of aquatic vertebrates, the cellular response to the oxidative stress caused by, among others, climate change and water pollution, and for the development of biotechniques of fish reproduction in aquaculture.

Conducting such research will require knowledge and practical skills  in the field of fish reproduction and rearing, cell culture, nucleic acid isolation, gene expression analysis and the use of microscopic techniques and flow cytometry.

The candidate is expected to have professional research skills, laboratory independence, ability to write scientific articles and present results in Polish and English.`

Skills/Qualifications
  • Ph.D in discipline of earth and related environmental sciences or similar
  • predispositions to scientific work confirmed by authorship or co-authorship of min. 5 scientific publications regarding min. molecular biology, genetics, aquaculture published in journals from the JCR list and participation in scientific conferences,
  • experience in implementing (contractor or manager) projects financed by the National Science Center or NCBiR,
  • experience in application of PCR, RT-PCR, in situ hybridization, fluorescence microscopy techniques in studies of animal tissues and the use of the statistical tools in the natural research,
  • ability to raise early stages of fish and manipulate gametes and fish embryos.
  • experience in conducting in vitro cell cultures,
  • experience in field work related to collecting biological samples in aquaculture and natural environment conditions,
  • experience in conducting teaching classes in the field of molecular diagnostics, aquaculture, hydrobiology.
  • Organizational experience.
