Job description

A 3-year full-time Postdoc position (SKO 1352 or SKO 1109) in Experimental Systems Immunology is available at the Department of Immunology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, The Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO).

The appointment is a fulltime position and is made for a period of  three years (10% of which is devoted to required duties, usually in the form of teaching activities). The position is available from March 2024 with a flexible start between March and October 2024. The position will be located in Dr. Fridtjof Lund-Johansen's lab and Dr. Greiff's laboratory (Lab for Computational and Systems Immunology, greifflab.org). The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines. The position is industry-funded.

The candidate will develop experimental and computational sequence and structure-based approaches to profiling antibody-antigen binding at large-scale.

The Greiff Lab focuses on the quantitative understanding of adaptive immune receptor (antibody and T-cell receptor) specificity using high-throughput experimental and computational immunology combined with machine learning. The long-term aim is to conceive in-silico novel immunodiagnostics and immunotherapeutics using the disease-diagnostic information and therapeutic potential that is directly encoded into adaptive immune receptors. The Lund-Johansen lab focuses on array-based protein analysis for, for example, testing the specificity of antibodies to human proteins and screening for autoantibodies in serum from patients with auto-immune disease and cancer. Qualification requirements

• Applicants must hold a PhD in biology, immunology, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, experimental systems biology, or a related field. Prior knowledge of antibody immunology is a requirement. 
• Molecular biology experience is an advantage. This includes the design of DNA constructs with relevant software, gene cloning, propagation of plasmids in bacteria, plasmid preparation, gene expression, and PCR.
• Experience in techniques for screening plasmid libraries, such as phage display and yeast display is an advantage.
• Experience in structure biology tools such as FoldX, AlphaFold, RosettaFold, Pymol is an advantage.
• Experience in spectrometry methods is an advantage.
• Experience in molecular dynamics is an advantage.
• Coding abilities in R/Python are an advantage.
