The centre was established in 2017 and awarded status as excellent based on the partners’ long tradition of entrepreneurship education combining theory and practice. The centre is hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Management. You can find more information about SFU Engage here .

SFU Engage’s vision is to enable universities in educating future change agents with entrepreneurial skills and the mindset to make a change for the better. The centre has developed an educational framework which is used to develop new knowledge within entrepreneurship education. This framework consists of five elements, “challenge, act, interact, embrace and reflect” The centre’s postdoctoral fellows, researchers, PhDs and other staff are a central part of the development of the unique initiative within entrepreneurship education.

We are now seeking a postdoctoral fellow who is curious, creative, and engaged, to further develop the centre’s research within the high standard we aim for. Are you the one we are looking for?

About the position

As a Postdoctoral Fellow in Engage you will conduct research on issues connected to or with relevance for entrepreneurial education.
The following topics are particularly relevant:

  • Impact from entrepreneurship education. What impact does entrepreneurship education have on the student’s entrepreneurial behavior after graduation. Topics can be, but not limited to, career development, involvement in entrepreneurial activities and ecosystems, or differences between groups.
  • Ecosystems for student entrepreneurship. What effect do entrepreneurial ecosystems have on the development of entrepreneurial behaviour, and how can such context be fostered and developed?

Furthermore, themes related to the five elements of the educational framework could be of inspiration - "Challenge, act, interact, embrace and reflect".

When it comes to the choice of method, the theme and research question will be the driving force for whether qualitative, quantitative, or experimental methods are used.

You may use and combine data which already is collected in the centre, or you may collect data on your own.

In the project proposal, the candidate must demonstrate how the described topics are addressed. It is an advantage if the topic is related to ongoing centre activities, context and or the partners expertise. This can e.g. be related to Venture Creation Programmes (VCPs), ecosystems, entrepreneurial student ecosystems and student organizations and/or interdisciplinary collaboration related to complex issues. In the project proposal, the candidate must demonstrate how the research can be relevant and have implications for students, educators, universities and society.

As a postdoctoral fellow you will be part of a research group working on projects related to yours, enabling you to participate in research collaborations. Your work will include data collection and data analysis, taking courses, writing articles, and participation in scientific conferences and seminars. It is also possible to make a research visit to an international university.

The period of employment is 3 years. The position is linked to the research activity within SFU Engage, but there will be possibilities to contribute with other tasks such as writing applications for research projects, contribution to the development of new courses for students, development of tools for lecturers, dissemination of results from the centre, contribution to teaching, supervision, and support for students' entrepreneurship initiatives.
