Applications are invited for a 3-year position in a Research Fellowship as PhD Candidate in neuroscience to be based at the Division of Physiology, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo. The position is available in the group of Assoc. Prof. Johanne Egge Rinholm (group website ) in collaboration with the group of Prof. Sandip Kanse (group website )

More about the position
The project is focused on transplantation of brain organoids into the injured mouse brain. We use a combination of mouse models and human brain organoids in this project, where the candidate hired for this position will have main focus on brain organoids. Methods include work with cell, tissue and organoid cultures, optogenetics and viral constructs.
The research fellow must take part in the Faculty’s approved Ph.D. program and is expected to complete the project within the set fellowship period. The main purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a Ph.D. degree.
Two months after employment the applicant must, in collaboration with their two supervisors, prepare a complete project description to be attached to the application for admission to the doctoral program.

Qualification requirements
- Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in neuroscience, molecular biology or related field, or a medical degree, minimum grade B (ECTS grading scale) or equivalent. The Master’s degree must include a thesis of at least 30 ECTS.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English are expected.
- Strong laboratory, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience with some of the methods listed above will be considered an advantage
Starting date is as soon as possible and no later than September 1, 2023.
