Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington invites applications for the role of Tumuaki | Head of School of New Zealand School of Music - Te Kōkī in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences – Te Wāhanga Aronui .

The role of the Tumuaki | Head of School, reporting to the Dean, is to provide academic leadership and management, including strong financial oversight, of the School. This involves working closely with the School Manager, planning for the School’s future, and effectively managing its people, resources, learning and teaching and research programmes.

The Tumuaki | Head of School will enable the Faculty to achieve its goals by developing and implementing initiatives and activities that drive the strategic direction of the School in all aspects of academic leadership and operational management, internationalisation, management of stakeholder relationships, student recruitment and academic partnerships.

The New Zealand School of Music is part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, home to the University’s rich and diverse programmes across the humanities, social sciences, and creative arts. The Tumuaki | Head of School is expected to be an effective and supportive member of the Faculty Management Team (FMT) working in close co-operation with the Dean of the Faculty, other Heads of Schools and FMT members.
