About the opportunity

At Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research our purpose is to drive innovation in New Zealand's management of terrestrial biodiversity and land resources, and as such we play a key role in providing information and tools that support effective management of our land resources to both protect and enhance the terrestrial environment and grow New Zealand's prosperity. 

This role offers a dynamic opportunity to have a pivotal position in safeguarding stability, integrity, and optimal performance of our IT infrastructure. Your technical expertise, commitment to best practice, and passion for innovation will contribute to a team that thrives on providing high-quality service to our staff and contractors.

This position is permanent, full time, reports to our Infrastructure Manager, and is based at our Palmerston North site.

About you

You will

  • Possess a relevant tertiary qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience, and job-based training, with at least 4 years' experience in a medium-sized IT environment.
  • Have cross-platform experience, particularly in Linux and Windows environments, prioritising the right tool for the job over particular technologies.
  • Be skilled in high-capacity storage technologies.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to automation with some experience in infrastructure-as-code.
  • Believe in delivering value to your customers.
  • Are highly motivated and self-directed, as well as being committed to maintaining a collaborative, supportive work environment with team members both co-located and remote.
