The Faculty of Dentistry - Te Kaupeka Pūniho - has an international reputation for clinical and research excellence. Founded in 1907, it is New Zealand's National Centre for Dentistry. It forms an integral part of the Division of Health Sciences within the University of Otago, in Dunedin.

The role/Te mahi

We have an opportunity available for a Sterilising Assistant or Sterilising Technician to join our team. 

As a Sterilising Assistant or Sterilising Technician, you will assist in the cleaning and sterilising of instruments for patient clinics in the Dental School’s Clinical Services Building and Te Kaika, in South Dunedin.

Our successful candidate will have:
•    Previous experience in a sterilising unit (preferred).
•    Excellent organisation skills.
•    Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
•    Excellent people and communication skills.
•    Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of programmes, with well-developed keyboard skills.

If you do not have a sterilising qualification, but are motivated to learn, we will support you to undertake study to achieve a New Zealand Certificate in Sterilising Technology (Level 4).

This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week), semester time only (31 weeks a year) position, located in Dunedin.

Applications are welcome from experienced Sterilising Assistants with a New Zealand Sterilisation Certificate or equivalent. 

Qualified candidates will be appointed to the role of Sterilising Technician. The appointment salary range for this position is $59, 285 per annum.  

Candidates without the required qualifications and/or experience, will be appointed to the role of Sterilising Assistant (Trainee). The appointment salary range for this position is $55, 538 per annum.
