Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Pūhanga Metarahi me te Rawa Taiao | Civil & Natural Resources Engineering has an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in a research project, supported by the New Zealand Government via the 'Pūhiko Nukutū (Earth Battery): a green hydrogen geostorage battery in Taranaki' MBIE research programme.
You will be part of a large research programme aimed at assessing the feasibility of underground hydrogen storage (UHS) in New Zealand Aotearoa. Our research will fill Māori and science knowledge gaps regarding hydrogen UHS in depleted gas fields and sedimentary rocks. It is transdisciplinary and will include geology, chemistry, microbiology, reservoir modelling, cultural and economic aspects of UHS. In particular, we will consider how hydrogen interacts with the chemistry and microbiota of storage systems.
This role will primarily be involved with the coordination and implementation of the numerical reservoir modelling aspects of the project.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will hold a PhD (NZQA Level 10) in Reservoir Engineering, Groundwater Hydrology or a related discipline, and ideally have the following:
- A research background in reservoir engineering or groundwater hydrology (essential)
- Expert knowledge of subject area is required
- Demonstrated experience of excellent research capabilities (design and leadership) required to carry out innovative and insightful research
- A publication track record as well as experience with preparation and delivery of quality oral presentations to a wide range of audiences is essential
- Strong computer literacy, numeric skills, and modelling skills would be an advantage
- Ability and willingness to undertake collaborative research
- Active commitment to understanding multicultural issues and display ability to uphold UC Values.

The salary for this position is starting at $77,250 (pa)
