Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are currently looking for a top early career academic working on topical aspects of Cyber Security and Privacy to join our diverse and internationally renowned School of Computer Science.

The successful applicant will join our School as a Research Fellow on a 2-year fixed-term contract to undertake high-quality research. This is a full-time role - 40 hours per week. The salary range for this role is $94,981 - $101,141 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. 

The School is interested in top candidates from any field within Cyber Security whose research aims at increasing resilience towards cyber-attacks and protecting the privacy of users’ data. Research alignment with any of these areas would be advantageous:

  • Approaches to thwart Phishing attacks;
  • Usable Security and Privacy; 
  • Approaches to improve Cyber Security stance; 

The ideal candidate should also have some knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Human-Computer Interaction; Software Security Engineering; Artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About us

This position will be supported by The Clinton Bedogni Fellowship in Cyber Security and Privacy Research. The University of Auckland, acting through the School of Computer Science, has received and administers a memorial fund from the Bedogni family in commemoration of their eldest son, Clinton Bedogni, who died in June 2005. Clinton had a deep passion for computers and at the time of his death had developed an intense interest and capability in the Free and Open Source Linux Operating System.

The fellowship will be used to support an early career academic who is deemed most likely to become a leader in the field of Cyber Security research. You will be associated with an academic mentor within the Department of Computer Science who researches in fields closely aligned with your own.

Our ideal candidate will have a PhD (or close to completion) that has been completed within the last 5 years and have an excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
