The role/Te mahi

As Multimedia and Technical Support Officer, you will use your creative and technical skills to bring together text, graphics, digital animation, video, photography and audio to create a range of multimedia and graphic design outputs.

Your work will support the implementation of student assessments, marking, reporting and various other tasks associated with the development and implementation of the Ministry of Education’s national assessment study for primary schooling, the Curriculum Insights and Progress Study.

Working alongside our Multimedia Specialist and a dynamic and collegiate team of research, technical and operational staff, this role offers an ideal opportunity to apply your skills across a busy and varied programme of activities.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

Ideally, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification, and experience working in a design and/or multimedia role.

We’re also looking for an innovator and problem-solver, with the following technical capabilities:
•    Desktop publishing – InDesign, Microsoft Office Suite, (Using Styles, Templates, General Layout) / PDFs / Print.
•    Image Manipulation – Photoshop (Scanning, stitching images together, colour correction).
•    Video Editing – Splicing video / audio tracks (Final Cut Pro / Premiere / Audacity).
•    Drawing – Photoshop / Illustrator / InDesign (Producing graphics / illustrations).
•    Multimedia – Integrating media into assessment software (Audio / Video).
•    Cross platform knowledge – Familiar with iOS and Windows environments / networks.
•    Software development – Working with interactive multimedia / Websites / Livecode.

About our team/Mō te tīma

The Educational Assessment Research Unit (EARU) is located within the College of Education at the University of Otago. It is comprised of a small, dedicated team of researchers and technical staff, whose purpose is to provide robust assessment information to New Zealand educators and policy makers.

This is a permanent (research-funded), full time (37.5 hours per week) position, located in Dunedin.
