The role/Te mahi

We are looking for an exceptional person to join our central Finance Advisory team as a Finance Manager. Reporting to a Divisional Finance Manager, you will offer best in class financial support and advice to a client portfolio. 

As a Finance Manager, you will provide expert financial advice, analysis and day-to-day support to executives and managers that strengthen the business unit’s finances and support effective decision-making.

We have two positions available, one supporting the Division of Health Sciences (Divisional Office), and one supporting the Division of Campus and Collegiate Life Services, part of the Operations Group. 

Health Sciences
This role works with the Divisional Finance Manager to support the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Health Sciences. The Division of Health Sciences is one of four academic divisions within the University of Otago. It provides New Zealand society and other communities with a highly qualified workforce in the health professions, and contributes nationally and internationally through providing the highest quality research, teaching and scholarship. 

Campus and Collegiate Life Services
This role is embedded in the Campus and Collegiate Life Services Division which is a commercial operation comprising of 11 University owned residential colleges along with University Flats.  It operates the University Union, which offers food, retail and hospitality services on and around the campus. University Print also operates out of this Division.

Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

We are looking for an individual with experience in:
•    Provision of financial advisory services, including month end accounting; financial reporting, analysis and commentary; financial forecasting and budgeting; financial modelling and analysis;
•    Stakeholder engagement;
•    Financial advice and guidance to non-finance senior managers; and
•    People management.

Tertiary level qualification and professional standing for current membership (or eligibility for membership) of a recognised NZ accounting body are essential for the role.

These are full-time, permanent roles (37.5 hours per week), located in Dunedin. However, applicants seeking a part-time position will also be considered.

The appointment range for this position is $90,165 to $98,515, top of range $106,863 per annum.
